Power of Presence Meditation

Transformational Awareness Meditation

This guided meditation is inspired by Dr. Dan Siegel’s Wheel of Awareness practice and integrates powerful elements to help you ground your attention, open your awareness, and cultivate emotional well-being. It combines neuroscience-based tools with heart-centered practices to shift you from a state of survival into a state of elevated creation.

The Three Pillars of Mind Training

This meditation is built on the three pillars of mind training, as described by Dr. Dan Siegel:

  1. Focused Attention – Strengthens mental clarity and presence by training the mind to return to a point of focus. This builds emotional regulation and neural integration.
  2. Open Awareness – Cultivates spacious, non-judgmental awareness of whatever arises in the moment. It encourages deep insight, reduces reactivity, and fosters peace of mind.
  3. Kind Intention – Involves generating feelings of compassion, gratitude, and connection. This pillar supports emotional resilience and healthier relationships with ourselves and others.

Each pillar is intentionally woven into the structure of this meditation.

Journey Through the Wheel of Awareness

This meditation guides you through several layers of consciousness to bring the mind into an integrated, coherent state:

  • Sensing the Outer World – You begin by focusing on your five senses. This anchors you in the present moment and supports focused attention.
  • Interior of the Body – You then direct awareness inward to bodily sensations, increasing interoceptive awareness and connecting the mind with the wisdom of the body.
  • Mental Activity – Here, you observe thoughts, memories, emotions, and images as they arise and pass. This strengthens open awareness by recognizing that you are not your thoughts—you are the observer.
  • Interconnection – You expand your awareness to others and the larger web of life, fostering empathy and the pillar of kind intention. This segment opens the heart to our shared humanity.
  • Open Awareness – The center of the Wheel is a space of pure awareness—a silent witnessing presence. Resting here nurtures a sense of inner peace, insight, and unity.

Heart Coherence Breathing

To deepen the effects of the meditation, you are guided into a heart coherence breathing practice based on research from the HeartMath Institute. By breathing rhythmically and intentionally generating elevated emotions like gratitude, love, or joy, you help synchronize your heart and brain. This state of coherence moves you out of survival mode (stress, fear, reactivity) and into a creative, aligned state where healing, intuition, and higher thinking can flourish.
